I don't think so. For some reason the developers left the pickit2 behind with X. What chip series will you be using?
I haven't had good results with my windows machine. I have a real ice and icd3, but neither have played well with X. The advantage to a pickit3 is that it is HID style usb, so you don't have to run a custom driver.
