I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the solution to this problem I always see over at Practical Machinist CNC forum. The preferred solution to creating 3 phase power over there is the PhasePerfect electronic converters. I've never personally used one, but they look like an excellent alternative to gensets, capacitor phase converters, or diesel generators. They have units from 10HP to 60HP.
