The fastest boot times I am aware of result from using LinuxBIOS, now known as coreboot: http://www.coreboot.org/Welcome_to_coreboot You need a supported motherboard/chipset, and you replace the on-board BIOS with the coreboot code. They claim 3 second boot times to a Linux console. - -- Charles Steinkuehler [email protected] -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk/YgcsACgkQLywbqEHdNFxd3ACg8PA3G4bU5uW4ZJ4djATYBF80 n3AAni/WR+35PMc5cWa/48EsUEbiBvAV =K+Q7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
