I've given up on the sponges, and gone to the brass wool tip cleaners. FWIW, I get cleaner tips, and don't have to remember to fill the damn reservoir, or dampen the sponges. And the brass wool doesn't seem to cool the tips down as much as the wet sponge does. I know some folks don't like the brass wool, but it seems to be the bee's knees for me.
