The other solution is to fix the PWM circuit so it has a linear PWM/voltage 
transfer function. This is not difficult (even 12 bit linearity is possible 
with little fussyness), it requires:

1. Good low delay isolators (and low delay in all PWM signal path) so PWM 
width is not distorted 
2. Symmetrical drive to the RC  (looks like the C41 falls down here = drive 
output low has lower impedance)
3. If you want to get fancy , add a multipole filter and a rail/rail output OP 
amp
