The answer is "yes", with the notion that nothing of the original fabric is
destroyed or changed in the process.

I did my very early Unimat SL (mark 1) with the ability to convert back to
original with nothing changed, except for the dust and old dried up grease.
The conversion back would take a matter of a few minutes, max.

My Emco Compact-8 will have the same philosophy - I love these lathes and
have 2 of them - the CNC conversion will be bolt-on, cross fingers.

(the Compact 8 CNC lathe is a project for this coming winter, as this
summer is copper boiler making, outdoors, so when it's not nice with -40c
and drifting snow, I'll be inside making parts)
