G-code is a bad fit to laser rastering. But there is no reason that a very 
simple motion controller that took a bitmap as input couldn't use the lower 
level HAL drivers. I even got 25% of the way in to writing it. But I don't have 
a laser, so like many "academic interest" exercises it petered out.
