Apply a thin layer to the board and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush for a minute, then wash with strong water blast at a sink. Shake dry, or better blow off the water with an air hose. if this doesn't get it clean, repeat the process and let the alcohol soak for a few minutes. Then, give the boards a day to dry before powering. I make CNC control boards and clean some of them this way.
The air blast is great to remove dirty solvent/wash water from the inside of connectors, where it could cause flaky contact if allowed to dry in there.
