And I have one under the back seat in the GMC that has been airing up my 
corroded rims on that 99 GMC since I bought it in 2005, 10 years ago.  Works 
as well 3 weeks ago as it did new.  And it carries about 42 psi cold.

But you are correct, way too many of them have plastic gears that WILL burn 
up blowing up one of those 17" tires to 42 psi from scratch.  They don't 
have adequate head cooling, any of them.  But for this use, run time at a 
time might be 15 seconds with a 3 minute rest time between moves when I am 
doing the 7/16" wrench flats on a #209 nipple for one of my BP rifles. Or 
sharpening a single tooth threading tool at precisely a 60 degree included 
angle.

If I do buy another, I expect to get the best quality, highest pressure 
capable one on the shelf.  Something with metal gears.
