So you dont have a a eth0 at all. then you need to add something like this.

allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.150
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1

OR!!

allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

depending on your network of course if you have a router with dhcp/dns 
you use the second one if not you need to staticly configure.
