Which brings up a question thats been bugging me for a while:

Whats the difference between mesaflash, and mesaflash3. They seem to be
interchangeable when its a 5i25 on the end of the cable. But there is a
small difference in the codes size.

But, but but, mesaflash works on a pci interface only, or is that because
I've only used it against pci cards? --help says it can do both. And
the option list for mesaflash is quite a but longer than it is for
mesaflash3, as if the code has been made to autodetect the interface?

Mesaflash's option list shows the 7i90 as having 4 interfaces, but the HD
apparently has no usb:
--epp use EPP interface to connect to board, only for boards
with multiply intefaces (7i43, 7i90, 7i64)
--usb use USB interface to connect to board, only for boards
with multiply intefaces (7i43, 7i90, 7i64)
--spi use SPI interface to connect to board, only for boards
with multiply intefaces (7i43, 7i90, 7i64)
--serial use serial interface to connect to board, only for boards
with multiply intefaces (7i43, 7i90, 7i64)

The 7i90HD variant isn't there. But since I can make the cable, and both
have an --info option, I'll do that when I am up for the day.

After a couple hours of googling last night, it seems the linux spi
drivers are for specific hardware as I find no reference to useing an
epp parport to simulate spi. This mobo is now long in the tooth and has
no such hardware on it.

All in all, confusing. And needs more coffee to sort it.

Thanks Andy.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
