Thanks Sam, The router's servo drives are old and probably wouldn't gain any benefit from going greater than 1kHz. The mill is a bit more up to date but again 1kHz is probably enough. It's not a high speed machining centre.
Chris, the hardware does the very fast stuff such as encoder counting and PWM generation but the servo loop is done on the PC.
