I have attached the output from mesaflash. I have 4 or 5 25pin m-m cables. I
have tried 3 different ones (new out of the bag (however made in china)).

W1 is right, W3 is left. I just noticed that the 5V LED is pulsing bright then
dim about every three seconds.

Normally W1 must be in the left hand position (this is likely why its not working)

Also sounds like you have a problem with your 5V power supply

I would jumper the 5I25 /7I76 for cable power and eliminate the external 5V supply as a potential issue: 7I76 W2 left, 5I25 W2 UP

Peter,

I have a separate 24V 2.5amp DIN rail power supply that powers fieldIO and a
small pcb power supply (7805 plus a couple caps) that comes off of it to supply
5v power. I had the jumper in the wrong position for separate powers for field
IO and separate 5v power. I changed that jumper. I was getting both oranges
LEDs lit before and after the change, but could that have caused a problem?

Its not likely but if you supply external 5V and you have the jumpers wrong you
can possibly damage the 5I25 card or the cable (thats why theres a warning in
the manual) That said, a 7805 is not likely to have enough current to do any
real damage

I checked all the other jumpers on both boards and everything is now correct. I
have a short DB25M to DB25F ribbon cable to bring the 7i76 out to the back of
the cabinet. I disconnected it and connected the 6ft 25pin DB25m to DB25m cable
direct from the 5i25 to the 7i76 but no change in behavior.

I noticed that in pncconf there are no tabs for TB2 or TB3. Also on TB4 there
are no lines for SPINDLE-ENA or SPINDLE-DIR. Is that normal?

I would not worry about pncconf at this point, if you have no 7I76 pins its
likely a hardware or firmware setup issue

I bought the 5i25/7i76 pair directly from you so I assume that it has the
correct firmware???

I would check just to make sure

sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid

Did you get the DB25 M-M cable from us also?

Are 7I76 W1 and W3 in the left hand positions?

What else can I do?

Alan
