I don't have a "buster" here with X11 installed. Mine is text-only with no
desktop. But I have a new Ubuntu system here that is derived from Debian.
On this system the screen lock is Settings -> Privacy -> ScreenLock.
("settings" is an app, not a menu pick from the desktop) I have
pretty much complete control over if it is even enabled or not and what
happens if it is.
