Here's one of the things I would change on this project.

The cavity is for the same sort of 16mm bearing with either a 6mm or 6.35mm 
hole.   Instead of 4 nuts a nut plate a  10mm hole. A rod attached to the wave 
generator disk slips into the bearing lining up the cup to motor.  I think Sam 
did something similar with his belt unit.

There are probably other ways to do that too but I think that if the base of 
the cup is held more solidly and in line it will improve performance.  

I've also thought about tapering the cup so it's thicker at the bottom (say 
2.0mm) and tapers to 0.9mm at the top  That would tend to get rid of the hard 
spots where it might crack.   Plus, the right way IMHO is to make the cup and 
internal spline out of metal.
