It is common to shift the PCD of a small pinion out, and the PCD of the large gear in, to make the teeth on the pinion a little fatter. It is also possible to shift both PCDs in or out to tweak the centre distance, when required. The AutoCAD Inventor gear calculator actually does this as a built-in feature, according to a variety of standards. Here is my gear spreadsheet, which also supports corrections, so that you can get the dimensions of a 19T gear with the diameter of a 20. Or vice-versa. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_I5LGzEBaRcZFamOKsH1bFi3n1_P85J0qZEqkxUOhQ4/edit?usp=sharing (It is the "profile shift" box in the sheet) However this just gives the gear cutting data, it does not create a gear profile that can be printed. -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1912 _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
