I'd think the rpi4 has the ability to use a usb-3 based ethernet dongle. I've seen them mentioned now and then but have zero experience with them so can't recommend a src. All I can say is look around and see what amazon might have. Beats fleabay by about a month to your front door.
But problems like that are why I chose the SPI based firmware in a mesa 7i90HD. There, your interface problem is getting the OSHPark number for the teeny little terminator board that connects the pi to the 7i90HD, Jon Elson can probably supply that but you'll need a hot air station to put in the grain of sand resistors, 3 of them, and a small bag of header connctors. Because a right side up pi needs a cable twist, I mounted mine upside down, putting the pi's headers on the same orientation as the 26 pin on the 7i90HD, so my cable is only and inch or so long, highly desirable for the SPI speeds. I had com problems with 7" individual jumpers and no terminating reistors, but the board and ribbon combo Just Works. 3 boards min order, was about a tenner when I built mine using a pi3 several years ago. What part of this troubled planet are you on? Take care & stay well Robin. [...] Cheers, Gene Heskett. -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
