For example when the user configuration file is shared between
machines and in one machine the preferred player is missing.  Another
use case can be when I have a remote mpd server on one machine and I
want it to be used when the machine is up and running.

In my case I only encountered file-error caused by a missing player
executable or when the mpd daemon isn't running.
