Umm... yeah... I think you're misunderstanding me!
Yes, I think I was. I have been thinking focuslist options while you have been talking iconbox options. Maybe it would make sense to add an option to iconboxes. How about "show applications in focus list" (implied: if this iconbox is visible)? Just a thought.
Anyway, it's just a demonstration of what I'm talking about, not ready to be committed at all.
Thanks for the patches. I'll try them out asap. I think it is worth considering how this can be improved.
On a related note: maybe it's time to clean up E's terminology for this stuff? The settings refer to "Miltiple" and "Virtual" desktops instead of desktops, viewports, workspaces, etc.
Yes, the terminology in this area is somewhat unclear. But how should it be?
The EWMH spec (Virtual) Desktops Large Desktops (viewport onto -) E16 (Multiple) Desktops Virtual Desktops GNOME2 Workspaces (no mentioning) KDE3 (Virtual/Multiple) (not implemented) Desktops
Very little consistency.
Personally I would prefer something like having "multiple desktops",
where each "desktop" can be larger than the "screen" (thus we have a
"desktop size"). The "screen" is a "viewport" onto the "desktop".
This matches the EWMH spec fairly well and avoids "virtual" which I think is ambiguous.
On a unrelated note: does anybody remember the move/resize demo patch? It was commented out before 0.16.5. How hard would it be to get it in shape for 0.16.6?What is that thing?
