They are not kept in sync and will become writable only when we switch
away from SVN (which will happen in the next 1-2 weeks). At that point
we will resync the to the current state in svn and do a switchover.

The reason the repository is public now is so you can look at it, check
if the history matches, moves/copiese are followed, etc.
