Dear Everybody. Now I am beginning to see. I did not know about the program "xlsfonts" before, but it does help. In MLterm, the config file has these fonts:
$ cat .mlterm/aafont ISO10646_UCS2_1 = bitstream vera sans mono-medium-iso10646-1; ISO10646_UCS2_1_BOLD = bitstream vera sans mono-bold-iso10646-1; But those particular ones were not included in output from xlsfonts. xlsfonts includes lots of other bitstream fonts, however. So apparently, "X" can't use all the fonts that X desktop programs are able to use? That seems crazy. I'm digging around in the gnome font browser and I can't understand why some of the fonts I have show up in xlsfont and some don't. Some of the ones that do show up appear to be true type fonts, some are type 1. I have grown to like the bitstream Vera sans fonts, what are good alternatives that will work in Eterm? Anyway, I have learned that I am able to make Eterm use any of the fonts that show up in xlsfonts, and if other users want to do the same, run "xlsfonts", pick one you like, for example: -adobe-helvetica-bold-r-normal--14-100-100-100-p-82-iso10646-1 and then run Eterm -F -adobe-helvetica-bold-r-normal--14-100-100-100-p-82-iso10646-1 If there are spaces in the font name, be sure to put the whole font name in quotation marks.
