As others have already explained e17 *is* the Window Manager, but it cannot be
replaced with another WM like Openbox (unlike e.g. KDE, where you can replace
kwin with fluxbox or whatever).
You should be able to use any Display Manager, like kdm, gdm, xdm, SLiM,
LightDM, etc. to start enlightenment with - until Entrance development
catches up with the latest releases of e17. You can even start enlightenment
after you login into a console, by running startx, or similar, as long as you
have defined enlightenment in your ~/.xsession, or xinit script.
