Hello everyone, A little news from the b0rker master. I found a really great opportunity to bork Enlightenment and EFL by joining force in Lennart's evil attempt to break the world with his work on Systemd. I believe he should receive an honorary borker cup like all proud members of the Enlightenment borker team for his attempt to break the network, the audio and now the boot system. Here, I am only taking care of breaking the last miles with EFL and Enlightenment :-)
More seriously, what does that means and provide to EFL applications. EFL 1.8 will automatically detect if an application was started by systemd and will automatically turn on a few features : - notify systemd when the main loop is starting running - eina_log will send logs directly to journald - detect if it needs to ping back systemd watchdog. It also make it possible for all Ecore_Con server to become socket activated if they wish with just one flags to set at creation time. EFL will automatically check if it is the correct type and if the configuration is correct. The only thing left is for an application that may use it, to provide a systemd service description. You can look at elev8 for an example of it. I will later this week add its own systemd user session to Enlightenment that will remove the need to use enlightenment_start on system that work with systemd user session. For all of those that sadly don't have access or don't want to use systemd due to their religion, they will just have the same experience as today and just not benefit from all the reliability and simplification that systemd provide.
