Hi Richard, It is not possible to access the predefined Cisco/HP/Extreme scripts from Inventory Manager from the file system, they are integrated within the Inventory Manager Java application.
Here's the description from the NetSight online help: "Inventory Manager provides definition files for several device families: Enterasys, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, and Extreme. These files are stored as resource files and cannot be modified." Within the "Inventory Manager Help -> Inventory Manager -> How to -> Third Party Integration" help section, you'll find an example of the Cisco SSH/TFTP script. Here's the example: --- Use these scripts to manage Cisco devices name="Cisco Systems - TFTP" desc="Cisco Systems SSH/TFTP Scripts" separator=Windows_File_Separator timed_reset_delay_format="HH:mm:ss:SS" -----BEGIN SCRIPT "Configuration Upload"----- enable %ENABLEPSWD% copy running-config tftp: %TFTP_IP% %RELATIVE_TARGET_FILE_PATH% @receive 20 exit -----END SCRIPT----- -----BEGIN SUCCESS "Configuration Upload"----- bytes copied -----END SUCCESS----- If you want, you can enable "verbose" level debugging in NetSight for "Inventory Manager" and "ssh/telnet". With this enabled you will find all the commands executed with the HP/Cisco/Extreme scripts in the NetSight "Console" log. Here's a description, from the NetSight online help, how to enable verbose logging for NetSight: Logging and Error Reporting This section provides information about how to enable debug logging and perform troubleshooting using log output and error messages, when using the third-party script functionality. Logging You can use the NetSight Server Diagnostics web page to enable debug logging that allows you to see the content of the script before it is sent to the device and the content of the SSH session after the script has been executed. Access this web page from the NetSight Launch page by clicking the Administration tab. To access the server diagnostics, you will need to log in with your username and password. (If the NetSight Server is a Windows platform system, in the Username field you must enter a domain name and a username using the following format: <domain name>\<username>). Enable the "Inventory Manager" and "Telnet/SSH Command Shell" debug groups by setting the Diagnostic Level to "Verbose." You can view the log output in the Server Information window (Tools > Server Information) on the Server Log tab. You can also access the log output in <install area>\NetSight\appdata\logs\server.log on the NetSight Server. Hope this helps. Any questions, please ask. Do you know where the definition file for the Cisco-TFTP is located on the Netsight server? I want to modify it to use with Cisco CATOS devices. Forgot to mention, Inventory Manager Scripts only work via the SSH protocol, not via telnet like the "Execute command script" tool in NetSight. You must configure the right CLI credentials for your Cisco/Foundry devices under Tools->Authorization/Device Access-> Profiles/Credentials. Use SSH for you CLI credentials and bind it to your SNMP profile with which you poll your Cisco and/or Foundry devices. Now the Inventory Manager should be able to login to your C/F devices and execute the config/firmware upload/download scripts/wizards, also the reset wizard should work. Hope this helps.
