Over the weekend I tried to set up my Palm to sync with Entourage. This process resulted in duplicates of just about everything that is it possible to enter into the Palm – mildly annoying, but better than other possible failure modes.

I have been able to delete and keep deleted almost everything except the duplicate categories, where I seem to get multiple Personal and other categories every time I sync (there are three problem categories, two standard Palm and one I created myself). I had thought this only occurred if the Palm had a category with a name 15 characters or longer, but the Palm’s longest category is “Friends/Family,” which is fourteen characters. Now, I was also doing taxes over the weekend, so my brain is a bit fuzzy at this point – am I forgetting something about this duplicate categories problem?
