When you delete a message in Eudora, it gets it's entry in the index removed, but the message itself will stay in the mailbox file until you compact the mailbox (a lot of apps do something like this for sped). Since the EfX import was a 'mailbox file' import, it would not have checked the index info in the resource fork, and thus would not have known which were the deleted messages.
