On or near 2/2/02 4:30 PM, Richard Shane at [EMAIL PROTECTED] observed: > A. Is there an extensive Entourage manual available anywhere online? > No, not really. The best thing I know of it the book, Office 2001 for Macintosh: The Missing Manual, by Nan Barber & David Reynolds. But even that excellent book lacks the trick for populating a new group that Paul shared. However, starting a new empty group, then selecting multiple contacts from the Address Book and dragging them to the group, is almost as quick, and makes a quick way to <add> a bunch of contacts to a group.

I'm sure you'll come up with > something that should have been obvious to me. Thanks in advance. Hint: A group can contain another group as a member. I have a small class I teach locally, and a larger group of people who are more wide-spread geographically. I have the small, local people in one group, and I have a second group with the more distant people--PLUS the local ones. So if I send to the second group, the message goes to everyone, but I can easily target the local ones by addressing only the first group. So: First, click on the New Group button and create a new, empty group for the subset of people. Open your large group. Now select the smaller group of "some of these people" that you want the second group, using Cmd-Click just like in Finder to select multiple contacts in the group, and just drag them from the larger group into the new, empty group. They move over, and disappear from the first group. (That's OK.) Now, close the new, smaller group. Click on its icon in the Address Book, and drag that into the first group. This adds them all back into the first group (as a group) rather than individually. So it ends up something like this: GROUP A: GROUP B: John Bill Mary Phil William GROUP B -- Microsoft MVP for Entourage/OE/Word (Only a volunteer) Allen Watson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> XNS name: =Allen Watson Applescripts for Outlook Express and Entourage: <http://homepage.mac.com/allenwatson/> -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
