Are you *certain* all the addresses work individually but not in the group?
Paul's is the likeliest explanation, and this would seem to contradict it.

Another possibility is that the error message is not describing the actual
error. Some ISPs will reject messages with too many addressees, sometimes
with odd error messages. I would suggest splitting your group into two or
three and see if the errors go away, continue, or continue with only one of
the subgroups. If the latter, repeat the experiment until you have narrowed
the problem down to a single malformed address, which you can fix. If a
group of 60 fails, but two groups of 30 both work, you can send two messages
each time, or start a mailing list using Topica, Yahoo Groups, etc.
