There is no simple solution. There is no difference when using an IMAP account. IMAP still uses SMTP for sending emails, which is where the problem resides. What makes it complex is that different services use different means to deal with the issue. If they were all standardised then there would not be the issue, but that is not going to happen. The best thing is to get a solution that works most of the time for you.
