Database would be the first thing to check. Switch Identities and create a
new test identity. Does it work? If yes, then it's your database. If no,
then it's most likely a corrupt preference.

The advanced rebuild is often necessary for solving some problems.

You could try moving out the preferences related to Entourage.

~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Entourage.plist

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Entourage Preferences
