Discredited? I know someone who found the file on Gnutella. It is said to be
a "web installer", which, if you recall from the OS 9 days, was used from
time to time so users could select certain modules and only download and
install what they want. I remember QT and Netscape, among others, using
this.

No one said that Microsoft posted the installer... But I'm sure there are
other MS products available through P2P services like Gnutella.
