Today I tried to use the Archive function in E ‘04 to export my messages for safekeeping. An error message said that there was an error exporting one of my messages and that my database might be corrupted. Following the message’s advice, I ran the Database utility. It presented a clean bill of health.
There are no obvious problems with the way E’04 is functioning apart from this one issue. Is the problem more likely with the Utility, the Database, or perhaps with a rogue email that the Utility just doesn’t like?
It is likely a problem message, rather than corruption in the database.
The export function is simply a GUI fornt end for functionality that has been in there since day 1 – just drag a folder to the desktop, and it will create an MBOX file. If you do this individually for each folder, you may well be able to track down where the problem message lies.
