OK, I'll try and answer this, but I am not 100% certain of the accuracy of

You shouldn't get any problems, these fonts are 'available for use', rather
than insisted upon.

I don't believe so. This folder is where they are stored so that a 'first
run' routine can install them in the correct fonts folders.

It may do, if something triggers another 'first run'.

Yes, office will use windows TT fonts (I believe the compatibility is built
in a system level, so all apps can use them) - not sure why fontbook doesn't
list them.
