Didn't get any response to my original post on this subject. Still
misfiling the messages. I'm assuming no-one is familiar with this problem
by the lack of response, so I'll try a different question.

What would be the recommended fix for this going forward? If there is no
recognized bug fix, how would you fix the situation? I'm thinking of
throwing away the folder where the messages are being misfiled, and trying
to recreate the rules from there, but I'm not sure that's the best remedy.

Any suggestions as to the best way to deal with this issue? See original
question below...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have a weird problem, and there was nothing on this topic in the archives
for 2004 or X version.

I have messages being misfiled, and when I check the rules they are
perfectly fine. For instance, I have new prospects coming to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" so I have the filter sort these into one folder.

They are ending up in my daily "news" folder instead. I tried resetting the
rule (chose an email, added another filter (even though redundant) and tried
a test message. Still no go - my prospects end up in my news folder.

Checked the filter for news - there are only two items that are being
filtered, neither of which are the "info" address, and are only news items
being filtered.

I have validated the database, then rebuilt it. Validation shows no errors.
Rebuild goes fine, so now I have a backup.

I abandoned my old mail from Entourage X in order to have a cleaner 2004 to
start with. Only imported rules, signatures, contacts. I have close to a
hundred filters running, including mail listservs, so would hate to have to
start from scratch again.

I am also getting some other weird behaviors - choosing shift-command-T does
not always work to mark an email as unread. If I quit Entourage and
restart it, it will work again.

I've checked MS for updates, thinking this was perhaps an undocumented
feature (i.e. Bug) but there do not appear to be any updates so far.

There have been a couple of other issues, since I had no folders to start
with when I did the transfer, and had to recreate them for the rules as I
went. There may have been some corruption of one folder item in my X
version, but it was an unrelated folder from another listserv with 50,000+
unread messages.

Anyone else had this problem or know what's going on? I hate to think of
what else might be getting misfiled - I've found a few messages from friends
misfiled in other folders as well.

I am using Entourage 2004 on a powerbook G4 17" 1.33ghz, 1GB Ram, attached
to an external Apple 23" flat panel display. It's running on an automatic
5 minute send/receive schedule. Let me know if you need any additional
info.

TIA...
