Forgot to add...

Yeah, there are many red-tailed hawks in the city. I live in Chelsea,
not near a park at all, and there is one that occasionally swoops down
and perches on a building opposite my back fire escape. One day when
I was out there working with my plants (don't tell the fire dept. that
I have plants and mini trees on my back fire escape!!!!) it flew right
over my head and over to that building. Magnificent.

But problematic as there's a troop of mourning doves that I feed in
the mornings on the the fire escape. I've had to rescue a few who
barely survived attacks. There is one dove now who looks like he's
been scalped and his tail feathers are missing. Must have been the
hawk.( I am calling the dove "Tomahawk". I'm going to see if he
improves on his own before catching him and getting him to a vet.)

I've managed to create a little bit of wilderness amidst the concrete
and chain link fences wrapped in barbed wire that I see from the back.
Nothing like seeing a mourning dove perched comfortably on barbed wire
every morning!
