You will find that it is a very nice lens. While it is not as sharp as an L
lens, (see www.photodo.com ratings), and some have reported that the
latest Tokina pro is sharper (a 28-90 I believe), it's definitely sharper
than the standard Canon consumer lens (photodo rating it at 3.5 versus 3.9
for the 28-70 L ). I bought the 28-135IS in July and have been impressed by
the color rendition (higher contrast) and the IS function.
You should find a great deal of comment on this lens and the Tokina in the
archives although you can also search at EGroups.
Needing a larger aperture, I bought a Canon 28-70 2.8 L last month. It is
also an excellent lens. Both work very well with the D30. As you will
discover, the D30 gives a very accurate color rendition. I keep getting
that I can't believe the color reaction when reviewing the results, perhaps
more with the L than the 28-135IS.
