Hi Pierre,

I think you missed something here. Only the D30 has E-TTL on the built-in
flash.

The built-in flash on the EOS 7 Elan 7E is TTL only, so there is no
pre-flash. It will not confuse optical slaves like the expensive Lite-link
($USD100), or even a cheap solar-cell triggered unit (about $USD20 to $30).

However, if you plan on using E-TTL or A-TTL flash as master, the pre-flash
will trigger ordinary optical slaves. It is possible to use exposure lock
to deliberately set off the pre-flash, then wait for the slave flash to
recycle (about 5 seconds with NiCd battery) before shooting the picture.
Quite inconvenient.

There are now some interesting "Digi-Slave" triggers intended for P&S
digital cameras. http://www.srelectronics.com/  Has anyone used one of
these for E-TTL slaving?
