I also use a negative scanner to convert negatives to digital and use the
Epson 1270 printer. I basically use digital as a proofing system to support
my darkroom prints. After developing the film I will choose the negative
that I feel should be enlarged and make prints as close to the size that I
will be enlarging them to in the darkroom. In many cases it is difficult or
almost impossible to achieve the same level of control with the darkroom
print as the digital one. However, there is still a sterility and flatness
with the digital prints that prevent them from having the depth and
emotional response equal to the darkroom prints. Almost 100% of my work
is black and white. The art community is still hesitant to recognize
digital prints as an artform. I will, at some point, present a series of
digital prints to illustrate the strength of digital.
