Several EOS cameras have different screens available that make manual
focusing easier, but none for the Rebels. The A2, EOS 3, 1n, 1v, etc have
interchangable screens (but not the 7 -- thanks Canon!). Like another
person suggested you can get a flash that will shine a red light instead of
using the built in white one.
I'm suffering as well with my Rebel G since AF is broken, and even with a 50
f/1.8 it's a major pain to focus indoors. What I try to do is try to find a
fine line on people and focus on that; like hair, lace, or a necklace. Of
course once in a while that results in the person's eyes being out of
focus...
