Hi Gerry,
I am intrigued: Canon specs indicate that there is major
viewfinder shake after each shutter release on the 630.
The loss of power to the IS unit also occurred with my
EOS 1000FN whenever the popup flash was recharging. It
was a major worry to hear the Image Stabilizer mechanism
"clunking" in and out.
Does your 630 exhibit ANY shaking?
What happens during continuous wind?
