people who go to Canon because of IS are losing out because the metering on
the Nikon F5 is so much superior. I am curious if anyone here has done a
comparison between Nikon and Canon metering.

In a Provia 100F slide (same roll) comparison between a F5 with 300F2.8 AF-S
and a EOS3 with EF300F2.8IIIUSM the results were very close in respect to
metering and sharpness but it did show a HUGE difference is color "tone".
The Canon lens was much more accurate, almost perfectly neutral, very
lifelike. The Nikon glass was very warm like a strong 81 series filter
effect (both had only clear glass in the filter holder). This may not be
especially noticable in day to day shooting with either system, but side by
side on slide film from the same re-loaded roll it was very surprising.
I'm glad I own Canon equipment.
