Have used the NiMH batteries (1200, 1400, 1600 mah) in the 540EZ and 550EX for over 4 years now without any problem, it is outperforming the Quantum Bantam battery pack I also have as its internal gel cell battery is only around 1200 to 1300 mah. I have actually been thinking of building up 1,800 mah pack to fit into the Bantam housing, but then again I can just have a few extra 1,800 mah AA cells handy for less work.
