Hi Gerard!

Sorry for misquoting you. :)) Yes, those were portraits at point blank
range, so -1.5 FEC rule is correct (IMHO). I wonder whether the author will
respond to this? :)

Yes, CF8=1 and I used the central point anyway, so there's no mixup.

As for 500 Super: I've used 430 Super before (for general use and weddings)
and I've been happy with the results. But it was borrowed in when it was
time to invest in a flash, I deceided to buy the 500. It works fine for me,
as a slave and as a master. Focuss assist is good and it's very quick to
recycle. I haven't used 550 EX so I can not compare the two, but as far as
the features go, it is rich. For me, that is. It has all I need. (I see no
point in quoting the specs as anyone can read them on the web). I will buy
some sort of softner though (stofen or similar, which comes with 430 ST but
500 has the wide angle difusor built in). I get great results when I tilt
the head 45 degrees up.

If you're asking me if I could recomend it? Sure. But to be on the safe
side, borrow one, have a test ride and see for yourself.

Best regards,
        Miha.

Did you activate the link between the active FP and the flash exposure? i.e.
CF8=1 (If I recall correctly). Otherwise, regardless of the active focusing

Other than this, how is your experience with the EF500 Super ?? Are you
happy
with it? Have you used a 550ex? Can you compare them?
