I have no digital body, but if I had one, I would prefer CF cards over
the Microdrive. 
First, the CF cards are also available in 1 GB and soon up to 2 or 3
GB. Second, it is better to use two or three smaller CF cards in case
one card has a problem. If the (256 MB or 512 MB) card has a damage,
then you lose less data than on a big 1 GB card. 
Third, the microdrive is a hard disk, and as a cause of this, not so
shock resistant. Drop the card and you risk a hard disk crash and the
loss of all your photos.

I met a colleague last winter at the ice climbing worldcup. He was
shooting with a digital body and microdrive. But the microdrive seemed
to be frozen! The temperature was some 20 degrees Celsius below
zero...
