Hi Brian,

I did not do extensive testing with Canon using 16bit output files. I found
the 16bit Canon files not particularly clean overall and in particular the
shadow area. This is something that both YARC+ and BB in the later versions
seem to cleanup well with their filtering. Have you found a secret that I
overlooked? If so I may have revisit the Canon software but it seems
limited compared to most other converters and this point I mostly want to
get good images prepped for output.

For the best images on prints I'm mostly settled on using YARC+ to output a
16bit linear file with color matrix 4. Then I suck it into PS and use FM's
LPBatch in AdobeRGB color to do the gross adjustments. Then after it's all
said and done in 16bit (levels, curves, color, brightness etc.), I save the
semi-finished image in native res., crop and resize using FM's custom SI for
output and do the sharpening by hand or use FM's custom Intelisharp action
after I know what I have and how it will be used.

I used this workflow for what was formally known as the Postal Credit
Union's new annual report. It came out really well and they were amazed at
the image quality they got from a 4MP camera. It funny they were in a big
hurry and wanted digital files but they usually want film. This job changed
their minds!

Cheers/Chip
