I've read in several places that the 75/90/100-300mm lenses all use the same
optical formula excepting the additional elements introduced by the IS, and
that all are soft at 300mm. I've owned the 75-300mm (non-IS) and 100-300mm
(it's on eBay right now!) and would agree with that assessment.
