I agree with Bob... and well everyone.

I've had the 28-135IS for bout 4 years.  It was my only lens most of the time when I 
used film.

Since getting the 10D I nearly always use my 16-35L or 100-400L as I'm either wide or 
long and hardly in between.

I've blown up posters with my 28-135 (about 28*35) and they're perfectly sharp even to 
look at up close.

If I'm on a weight conscious walk then it's the 28-135IS but if I'm in the car then 
it's all my lenses.

I think I just use my L lenses for the sense of security :-)
