Hi Archytas, I am not at all familiar with you resident UK fascist, Mr. Farage. I did a quick search and just happened to glance at his photo, without reading much about him. You are right, his "image" does appear "amiable"... You have to watch those types.... Here in the States we had Ronald Reagan.... But then, in Britain, your own previous experience was with Margaret Thatcher, right?
I like your acronym .... USUK.... that about says it all... HAR. I've bee trying my hand with some "transoceanic" message boards... the first "RevLeft" banned me fairly unceremoniously, for what, they did not specify....Currently, I am having similar difficulties with a shoot-off, named RevForum... short for Revolutionary Forum....I think you discussed with me the "ideological" commitment of some European "Marxist" forums....Truth be told, although I am somewhat knowledgeable about "things" Marxis, I was never a "true-believer" of a political idelogy-party sort of person. Anyway, this later RevForum seems to also specialize in the Philosophy" of Ludwig Wittgenstein, with a particularly "ferocious" acolyte, there ... I won't name her to avoid denigrating the person for her views, alone. But as moderator, she has gotten to be quite " censorial... and might very likely make her way into my Nominal9 Censorship Hall of Shame... but I like to give all people a chance and seeing the error (or at least the possibility of error) of their ways before relegating them to Censorship Hell.... I've been advocating for Ockham and the English Empiricists... Frankly, I am getting very disappointed that the English do not appear to be that knowledgeable or appreciative of their own important "empiricst" epistemological tradition.... Archytas, I always enjoyed all my talks with you on all topics, but especially on philosophy and culture....Hang in there... friend, (if I can presume to count you as such).... the same goes for Silent Sam Carana.... party" sort of pr On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 3:36:13 PM UTC-4, nominal9 wrote: > > Hi all, > > Epistemology is important, it is not just theoretical discussion, it is > reflected in things we think and do, and its implications reverberate in > daily life. > > Some people may like certain political or religious dogmas, or they may > set certain principles and present them as truth.
