----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Here are my three cents,
Last year I was looking for an Ercoupe. Everyone around my local airport teased me when they heard I was looking for one. I come from an airport with a 31/13 runway. 90% of the time, there is a crosswind. I was constantly degraded about the "Scarecoupe" I was buying. So I looked for one with rudder pedals. I couldnt find one so I talked our local Mr. Ercoupe (Mr. Dunlap) into installing rudder pedals for me. He said fly it first and then decide. That was the best decision that I ever made. I found a nice "G" model with an O-200 without pedals. I learned how to land in Mr. Dunlaps coupe and then ventured down to Florida to pick mine up. My first crosswind landing was back at my home airport on the way home. After 10 hours of flying I had to land in a direct crosswind around 24knots or so! The Ercoupe did just fine. A year later, I am so happy that I listened to Mr. Dunlap. My advice; buy one without and fly it for a while. You will love it. And after 200 hours or so of flying it, I dont even think twice about it anymore. If your in the Michigan area, I'll take ya up and let you play around with it.
Good Luck
