I'm not sure how much the 295 manual will help. As with most manuals it leaves a lot to be desired. I have had my Pilot III for a few years and produce seminars on
GPS handhelds. I also own all of the Garmin units and although they give the same information, getting there is different on each model and can be a pain. Try once again to solve problems using the manual and if you still have difficulties, I would be glad to answer your questions. I am not an expert and my degree is in BS so beware.
